More effective than I thought they would be.
Not the most expensive tool on the market, so I was expecting the performance to be OK, and I was ready to send them back if not. However, I was pleasantly surprised. They aren't that big, about the size of a decent pair of pliers, so there is limited leverage. If you don't have a decent amount of hand strength, I would say get something with more leverage. However if you do have the strength, they are extremely efficient. Used them for cutting garden hanging cable and fencing wire. Quite confident you could use them to break out of a movie PoW camp if you needed to.Very effective, good price, go for it.

I find they work well for bike cables.
Since I bought these, the description has changed: now it says NOT for bike cables.I've changed the cables on 3 bikes now and they have performed perfectly well: they cut with single-hand strength and leave a very clean cut with no unravelling of the cable. They do have a tiny burr on one of the cutting surfaces, but it doesn't seem to have affected their cutting ability. I'm well pleased.I don't for a moment think that they will last a lifetime, but they've held up so far.

Great addition to my toolkit
I wanted to break an old unwanted piece of heavy exercise equipment down, so l could more easily dispose of it in pieces, but after unscrewing everything I could, I was flummoxed by some heavy duty plastic coated wiring. I tried everything I could think of but, as an older woman, I didn't have the strength (or tools) needed to cut through the wires which was very frustrating. I turned to Amazon and bought these, expecting I'd have a bit of a struggle to use them. I was very pleasantly surprised when they snipped right through each wire with very little effort on my part. Nice to know I have them in case I need them again. Good quality wire cutters at a good price - I'd recommend them

great cutter - a tool not a toy
I bought this for cutting 2.5mm and 1.5mm 3 core ho7 rubber cable. it's a tough cut for small diy cutters and as a sound engineer, i make a lot of my own power cables and so I was getting fed up of pliers and wire cutters that butchered the job, rather than giving a good clean cut. I couldn't tell from lots of the descriptions and reviews which cutter would do the job properly. I took a risk on these. worth every penny.the jaws have two separate openings, one is around 9mm diameter and the front, smaller opening is around 6mm when in the open position full opened. the 2.5mm cable has an outside diameter of 12mm. the jaws extended wide enough for the cable ..i.e. to 12mm diameter. at that size and smaller it cuts fast and easy, first time, fast every time.these cutters had paid for themselves in the first couple of weeks I owned them and frankly, i wouldn't be without them now. if you need a single tool to do a single job, this is it.

Very sharp, well designed cable cutters that cope with outer gear and brake cycle cables as well as they do with inners.
The media could not be loaded. I do a lot of cycling (handcycling in fact) and maintain my own cycles, so am always on the look out for tools that might come in useful. I bought a pair of £20 cable cutters a while back for my main toolkit, but spotted these as a possible pair to take in my spares bag when out on rides. It's very frustrating on the odd occasion when you have to swap a brake cable and are unable to cut it. So on the basis of some positive reviews I thought I'd risk a few pounds to try these. And very glad I did too. These are the ONLY cable cutters that I've found besides the expensive versions in my kit, that can cut an outer cable (brake or gear) and still leave it open to push the inner through. They are a decent weight, very sharp, easy to use, with good handles, and give a very good cut to any of the cycle cables I tried. OK, so to get enough pressure you may need two hands (see video) but that's really not an issue.A great buy.

Worst pliers ever. It hits the wire and does not cut
