Takes a little getting used to
Great scope. use it as a hospitalist. Personally, I like the acoustics better than the Littman Cardiology. Plus, it's nice to have a bell. The chest pieces can come loose from time to time which really isn't an annoyance but more FYI. What I'm still trying to adjust to is how tight the ear tubes are. They are a bit more snug than the other as above. Certainly not a deal breaker but something to consider. All in all, I'm happy with it...hope it's the last one I have to buy!

One of the best analog scopes on the market
I own 3 Harvey DLX scopes. They last on average about 10 years before the tubing fails. The soft earpieces typically fail after about 5-8 years. I didn't actually need to buy new scopes. You can replace any component of a Harvey DLX.First off, this stethoscope has all the basics to complete in the "cadillac" class of stethoscopes. It's dual lumen, double headed, etc. But unlike Littman, this has a true bell (not the tunable diaphragm), and also has a novel corrugated diaphragm that is easily my favorite and excels at midrange frequencies. The headpiece is masterfully constructed, and with enough heft that you can use the bell correctly (low/no pressure).Secondly, it is very modular. You can change out the ear pieces, the diaphgram, the head pieces, everything. You can certainly do a "Ship of Theseus" on this and just replace every part of it if you like. If you don't use the bell ever, then take it off and swap it out with an infant diaphragm, or a flat adult diaphragm. You've got options.Third, there are improvements made in the last several years. The rubber is more compliant and a little longer than in the past. I had concerns about possible degradation of sound quality, but the newer ones work great and I don't notice any difference.I recommend this scope to any medical provider who needs to listen to hearts or lungs. It's worth the investment. However, if all you're doing is blood pressures, this scope is overkill.

Would not Order from AMAZON again!
Great stethoscope, wrong color delivered by Amazon. Return process too cumbersome and inconvenient- not getting credit back for a month.

Amazing stethoscope but confirm what is to be delivered!
I didnt have the 2 rubber extra ear buds nor an extra diaphragm which usually accompanies the welch allyn.

Very well made
Welch Allyn is one of the great medical instrument manufacturers. I got this one to replace the one I had in medical school that finally wore out and this is equally as good and I expect equal longevity.

Missing Eat Tips
I’ve try to start using this new scope, but I anticipate enjoying its heft and solid feel. What I’m most disappointed with is the kit didn’t come complete from the factory. Multiple locations say it comes with 4 eartips. This kit came with 3. Others have complained for the same reason. If I don’t get a satisfactory response soon, back it goes and I’ll go back to old brand.

Auscultation is wonderful. Fit & finish need a tad more focus.
Welch Allyn and Littmann stethoscopes are the only two choices for most physicians, but there's quite a range of models offered. I settled on a Littmann cardiology scope back in medical school and that has served me well in the years since. This is my first time trying out the W/A unit that's near their top of the line. The overall design is standard. There's a firmly gripping set of earpieces with three possible tips provided - the old standard white plastic, a larger black silicone, and a smaller gray silicone. The tips screw on firmly so there's no chance of losing/tearing these as they are put on the scope. At this price point, I'd rather have at least as many tip possibilities as a $20 bluetooth headset would come with, particularly since I'd like a pair of ear tips that are a tad smaller and more flexible than the ones provided. The bell housing is chromed brass. I immediately noticed that my housing had several scrapes and mild dents in the finish, as if this were a refurbished stethoscope where someone said, "Yeah, that housing will do. We can leave that." Again, at this price point, I expect a gleaming finish without a blemish. The bell and diaphragm themselves are in excellent condition and work as expected, with excellent auditory throughput and a firm detent at each stop. The tubing is flexible but firm enough not to kink, and the unit sits over your neck nicely (if that's where you choose to keep it rather than in your coat pocket). I had no trouble hearing a grade II murmur, taking blood pressures, and otherwise utilizing the stethoscope.Overall, an impressive stethoscope that provides the auscultatory feedback at a volume somewhat higher than possible with less expensive (and smaller) stethoscopes which tend not to have as vibrant a diaphragm or tubing of this gauge. A little finish work as well as some enhancements in ear fittings would be much appreciated. I get annoyed when taking a blood pressure when I have to adjust the stethoscope fit in the midst of the pressure release, and a stethoscope should at least fit as well as a set of wireless bluetooth earphones. This unit comes with three sets of earpieces, but an even wider variety of fits and materials would be very much appreciated.
