Dumonde Tech Bicycle Chain Lube Lite will keep your drivetrain components cleaner, allow them to last longer and run quieter than what you'd get from any other lubricant. It comes in two concentrations. This Dumonde Tech Lite is less viscous than the Original. Dumonde Tech Lite soaks into the pivots a tad quicker and leaves a thinner residue. We use it on our road bikes exclusively. Though it can be used on mountain bikes, it requires more frequent applications. As you ride, it forms a low-friction plastic plating which bonds to the chain. It's environmentally sensitive as well. To get the best results from Dumonde Tech lubes, first degrease your chain and dry it thoroughly prior to the first application. This effectively primes the surface for the "plating" effect that makes the lube so successful. For the first application, we recommend putting one drop on each link to really aid the plating effect, wiping the excess from the chain after it has had time to work itself into the pins. When your chain begins to get noisy, it's time to reapply. Use soap and water to clean the chain prior to re-application -- strong solvents and degreasers will remove the protective plastic plating from the chain, putting you back at square one. This Dumonde Tech Bicycle Chain Lube Lite comes in a 4oz bottle that should last for 40 or so applications.Product FeaturesMaterial: Volume: 4 ozRecommended Use: lubricating your chain, keeping your drivetrain cleanManufacturer Warranty:

Absolutely the best chain lube for dry conditions
Living in Northern California, one rarely has to worry about rain, especially during the past four years. If you are looking for a chain lube for fairly dry conditions--drought or no--Dumonde Lite is the best. Period. At the risk of looking a bit OCD, here is my foolproof application technique:[1] Deep clean your chain. You need to not only remove all the grime, you need to strip off all previous lube. This is SOP any time you change lube.[2] Apply one drop Dumonde Lite per pin.[3] Once all the pins are lubed, run the chain forward for 1-2 minutes. This will be messy; use a big Amazon box to protect the ground.[4] Using a clean shop towel, run the chain backward and remove 99% of the lube.[5] Re-apply lube, repeating steps 2 & 3. I do not follow the rinse-repeat instruction on shampoo, but here it makes a huge difference.[6] Using a clean shop towel, run the chain backward and remove "almost all" of the lube. Using the 'finger' test, you want to leave a thin trace of lube. The above will give you a rock-solid base that will last 300+ miles of riding in dry conditions. As other reviewers observe, the chain will be quieter than your tires. When you hear the chain getting loud, it is time to re-apply. Here it gets easier:[A] Using a clean shop towel, runt he chain backward and remove 99% of the lube and grime.[B] Apply one drop Dumonde Lite per pin.[C] Once all the pins are lubed, run the chain forward for 1-2 minutes. This will be messy; use a big Amazon box to protect the ground.[D] Using a clean shop towel, run the chain backward and remove "almost all" of the lube. Using the 'finger' test, you want to leave a thin trace of lube.Dumonde Lite not only makes for better rides, it makes for longer chain life. Two thumbs way up.

Made my chain get dirty much quicker
Good line but works about the same as triflow or boeshield. Still need to wipe chain after each ride to remove black grime. And yes I did totally degrease and wiped off after applying. No cleaner than any other lube. Wish it had a drip tube like tri-flow. Goes on very runny/thin.Follow-up: It is now late September and have put on about 1400 miles on this bike with the Dumonde. I'm sick of how filthy the chain gets after each ride. And NO I did not put on heavily, and YES I did wipe excess off after working in the lube. Apply and wipe off the same as I do the TriFlow. My nickel Connex chain with the Dumond is black again after just a 20 mile ride. I wipe the chain down after the ride, and it's black again once I'm done with the next 20 mile ride. Also seems to attract grit much more than TriFlo. The Dumond was also a real PITA to get off the chain so I could change back over to TriFlow. I have 2 bikes and alternate. My other bike with TriFlow is ridden about 60% of the time and this bike with Dumond about 40%. The TriFlow chain is quieter and cleaner after 100 miles than the bike with Dumond is after 20 miles. Dumond also causes build-up of black grit on the gears and teeth. I finally removed the Dumond because I was concerned about wrecking my $46 chain and also the cassette and chain rings. I'm going back to TriFlow as I've used it for several years and about 12,000 miles and it has served me well.I'll give this Dumond stuff away, or better yet, just toss it to save someone else the hassle of filthy drive train.

It seems to work in any weather
I've tried a lot of lubes over the years, and the best I ran into before Dumonde was Rock N Roll Ultimate Dry, and I was pretty much sold on the Rock N Roll...till I tried Dumonde. Both of those Lubes run clean as long as you wipe the chain down after every use, but the Dumonde seemed to be cleaner longer. Also after the first 3 treatments of Dumonde I haven't had to relube it now for over 300 miles and it's still going, other lubes would require relubing about every other ride, Rock N Roll would last about 150 miles.I gave it only 2 stars for value, why did I do that? Because ALL bicycle lubes are far overpriced, they're ripping off us cyclists on a lot of things, and lube is one of them. Normally I would rate the value as only 1 star, but due to the fact that Dumonde is lasting longer than others I gave it 2 stars instead, because the cost of only 4 ounces of 30 cents worth of lube cost us $16!!!Other than the huge complaint about cost, I will continue to buy the Dumonde Tech Lite.By the way, the difference between Dumonde Tech and Tech Lite is that the Tech is more of a wet lube for wet weather conditions, but I've found the Lite to hold up to rain just fine and the Lite stays cleaner. When using this stuff it's extremely important for the lube to work correctly that you first clean the chain and gears so well that as when you wipe the chain nothing black should show up on the cloth, and that could take up to 3 maybe 4 cleanings to get the chain that clean. After the cleaning is done, wait for the solvent to dry completely which I waited overnight. Next just follow the directions to apply the lube, but the first application is one drop per roller, when you finish the first application you have rotate the chain about a dozen times then wipe the chain...again this stuff is in the instructions so just follow it. Then the oil has to dry for about 4 hours then you apply it again, and wipe, and wait for it to dry. Ride the bike as normal for a ride, come back home, wipe the chain and apply just 3 or 4 drops on the chain, back pedal again for a couple of dozen times and wipe the chain; after that all you need to do is wipe the chain down after every ride and only apply new oil when you hear chain noises.

The best
I loved the old pink Pedro's Syn Lube, but they don't seem to make it anymore. This is everything you want from a road lube. It's clean and quiet. Expensive, but worth it. Once every few rides I spray the chain down with WD-40 and wipe clean (there's no need to remove the chain, soak it in varsol, etc.). When the chain's dry, I apply this (one drop per roller), let it sit for a bit, wipe the chain off and I'm good for about 300km under normal, dry conditions.
