Demco 5975 Steering Wheel Strap

We purchased this strap to hold the steering wheel in place on our Scion iA while towing on a two-wheel dolly, with the car's rear wheels on the surface, and the front wheels on the dolly. The Scion is a push-button start and the steering wheel does not lock as they do on keyed vehicles, so securing the steering is very important.This is a critical step, and especially so because we tow behind a Class C motorhome and can't see the lower portion of our car. If the front wheels should happen to turn it could cause problems with the tie-down straps and cause a potential emergency...maybe even the car pulling off of the dolly.This strap is very simple in design, but it just works. The single vertical strap attaches to the wheel, and the two lower hooks attach under the front seat, or to the seat adjustment bar, then tightened. Works very well.Five Stars for a simple design, but only four given due to the abnormally high cost for this simple strap. Super disappointed. Got this in March and used it this weekend so after the 30 day return timeframe. We got to our location to find that it broke during transit therefore it was not holding our steering wheel.

The strap is way overpriced for what it is. The hooks to attach to seat frame were too large to accommodate any points on the seat frame rail on my Chev. Sonic. I had to buy additional hardware to make this work. On a 400 mile trip I had to re-tighten the strap three times to ensure the steering wheel did not move. The only good thing about this strap is it did not mar or scratch the steering wheel.

This thing is a joke. The hooks are way too small for probably anything past the 1980's, cheap strap material, cheap plastic buckle that I don't understand why anyone would trust a human life with and it's way too short to be useful. $43.00 for this junk???

Unfortunately, the warranty expired before we used this product (our fault for waiting so long to try it) and it broke on its second use.

This locks the steering much better than a bungee cord. Hooks onto the seat frame.
