Lowest price coconut coir on Amazon - GREAT QUALITY PRODUCT - Repeat buyer!
It doubles in size after you add water. It is BETTER than potting soil and very nutrient dense for growing plants. This product HOLDS MOISTURE in the soil better and longer than conventional potting soil - so it is good for water conservation. I spent HOURS researching the best price and this is the best deal. I am a long time loyal customer and will buy it again and again. Coconut coir has everything you need to grow crops. I do not have a car and got fed up dragging heavy bags of potting soil home from the store in rolling carts. Because this is a dehydrated product it is lightweight. This is MUCH BETTER for the environment that potting soil - most potting soil is NOT from renewable green sources - such as peat moss which is dug up from the ground in a destructive non-environmental manner - peat moss takes about a century to create - it is from ancient peat bogs in the ground and dug up to sell as peat moss. Perlite in potting soil is heated at around 800 degrees and TERRIBLE carbon footprint. Coconut coir is the shell and hairy fibers on the shell which left over after fresh coconut is harvested and cracked open for processing as a food product. Buy purchasing Coconut coir we are eliminating WASTE by using the shell for a good purpose.

A fantastic super soil base product
Excellent bricks to make your own soil with. I blend with other organics and soils along with sandy loam, perlite, worm castings, bat guano, mycorrhizae spores, etc making an all around healthy well draining yet water retentive soil.

Worked great
Overall, I'm very happy with this product. The water absorption/brick expansion wasn't instantaneous like other brands I've used, but in 10-15 minutes it's ready to go. Instead of adding 4-5 quarts of water as suggested, I found that using 2 quarts gave me the ideal moisture level I needed. The resulting product, which for me is the most important factor, consists of fine particules, light and airy, with no big chunks. It mixes easily with potting soil, and is a perfect addition for dirt that's too wet.

Makes gardening easier
As advertised--lightweight, keeps expanding with water, easy to use. So far I have planted two types of fushias and two types of heavenly bamboo with the product and all appear to be doing well

Use the right amount of water.
Use the right amount of water and these bricks break down to a fine powdery consistency. We use a 5-gallon bucket and then add a full brick flat on the bottom of the bucket. Then add about 1.5 quarts of water and put the lid on the bucket to make an airtight seal. Wait a few hours and then open the bucket. The brick will now break up very easily with just using your hands and fingers.

Plastic pieces inside
The coco coir itself is nice, but there are several pieces of plastic inside. A lot of white and yellow, some blue etc. which is pretty bothersome, but not the end of the world. I’m using this is pots and raised beds so I’m not too concerned about some pieces being left in, but it is not ideal and shows a quality control issue during manufacturing. The blocks themself take a lots of water to separate and it takes a bit of time to do so. Just kind of a hassle to fuss with them and I have to aid in breaking the pieces down. But with that being said, it can be a space saver and can be good to avoid heavy bags of soil. You can just expand one if you only need a little.
